At BlackCanvas Studio, we do not merely manufacture lighting; we compose sculptural luminaires where light becomes art. Because our pieces involve delicate materials—hand-blown glass, sand-cast metals, and precision electronics—our logistics and returns framework is governed by the following rigorous standards.
1. THE ARTISAN COMMISSIONS & LEAD TIMES
1.1 Custom-Made & Bespoke Orders
Every BlackCanvas piece is an “Atelier Edition.”
Production Commencement: Work begins only upon receipt of the initial deposit or full payment (as per the Proforma Invoice).
Standard Lead Times: Our artisanal process typically requires 6 to 10 weeks, depending on the complexity of the sculptural elements.
Delays: While we strive for precision, handcrafted art is subject to the nuances of material curing and kiln cycles. We will provide fortnightly updates on the status of your commission.
1.2 Ready-to-Ship Gallery Pieces
Limited edition pieces currently in our gallery inventory will be dispatched within 7 to 10 business days following a comprehensive 48-hour electrical soak test.
2. GLOBAL & DOMESTIC LOGISTICS
2.1 Shipping Partners
We partner exclusively with specialized luxury logistics providers (e.g., Sequent, DHL Express, or dedicated art handlers) to ensure climate-controlled and vibration-resistant transport.
2.2 White-Glove Delivery (India Only)
For Tier-1 cities in India, BlackCanvas Studio offers a “White-Glove” service which includes:
Uncrating of the luminaire in the room of choice.
Removal of all artisanal packaging debris.
Note: Standard shipping does not include electrical installation unless pre-booked as a separate service.
2.3 International Shipping & Incoterms
All international orders are shipped under DAP (Delivered at Place) terms unless otherwise negotiated.
Import Obligations: The patron (Buyer) is the Importer of Record and is responsible for all country-specific Import Duties, Customs Clearance Fees, and Local Taxes (VAT/GST).
Compliance: We provide all necessary commercial invoices and certificates of origin to facilitate smooth customs transit.
3. PACKAGING, TRANSIT INSURANCE & DAMAGE PROTOCOL
3.1 Bespoke Crating
Each sculptural installation is secured in custom-built, ISPM-15 certified wooden crates, lined with high-density shock-absorbent foam to prevent any structural fatigue during transit.
3.2 Insurance & The “Golden Hour” Rule
All shipments are insured for their full declared value. To maintain the validity of this insurance, the following protocol is mandatory:
Immediate Inspection: Upon arrival, the exterior of the crate must be inspected for punctures or moisture.
The 24-Hour Window: Any internal damage must be reported to contact@blackcanvas.com within 24 hours of delivery.
Documentation: Digital evidence (high-resolution video of unboxing and photos of the damage) is required to initiate an insurance claim and a priority restoration.
4. CANCELLATIONS, RETURNS & EXCHANGES
4.1 The Non-Returnable Nature of Bespoke Art
In alignment with the Consumer Protection (E-Commerce) Rules, 2020 (India) regarding customized goods:
Bespoke/Customized Items: These are strictly Non-Returnable and Non-Refundable. Once a design is approved and production begins, the piece is unique to your space and cannot be restocked.
Material Variations: Please note that natural materials (marble veining, wood grain, or bubbles in hand-blown glass) are signatures of authenticity and are not considered defects.
4.2 Gallery Stock Returns (Standard Catalog Only)
For non-customized, standard catalog items, we offer a 14-day Return Window subject to:
Restocking Fee: A 25% Luxury Restocking Fee is applied to cover the costs of technical inspection and re-polishing.
Condition: Items must be in “as-new” condition and never have been installed. Once a fixture is wired into a ceiling/wall, it is considered “Used” and cannot be returned.
Shipping Costs: The patron is responsible for the cost and risk of the return shipment.
4.3 Order Cancellations
Within 48 Hours: Full refund minus a 3% payment gateway processing fee.
After 48 Hours: If production has commenced, a cancellation fee of 50% of the order value will apply.
5. WARRANTY & STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY
5.1 The BlackCanvas Guarantee
We provide a 3-Year Limited Warranty on:
Structural integrity of the metal/sculptural frame.
Transformer and LED driver functionality (provided the unit was installed by a certified electrician).
5.2 Exclusions
This warranty does not cover:
Damage from improper cleaning (use of abrasive chemicals).
Fluctuations in power supply (we recommend the use of surge protectors for luxury installations).
Normal “aging” or patina of unlacquered finishes.
6. DISPUTE RESOLUTION
In the rare event of a disagreement, BlackCanvas Studio is committed to an amicable resolution.
Arbitration: Any unresolved disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Pune, India.
